Job Type: Permanent
Category: Fundraising , Senior Management , Individual Giving , Trusts
Sectors : Arts, Culture, Heritage, Justice, Welfare

Background information
Changing Tunes UK is a registered charity (1144789) using music and mentoring to reduce re-offending. We currently work in 17 prisons across the South West, South Coast, Midlands and Wales. We work with men, women and young people and continue to provide support activities post-release.

Changing Tunes Midlands is seeking a Director to head up our new Changing Tunes Midlands franchise, ready to launch in early 2017 as a registered charity and company. A board of trustees is in place and a Musician-in-Residence has already been delivering sessions in four prisons and their communities post-release. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to lead and grow a new charity with £47.5k seed-funding already in place alongside support and resources from Changing Tunes UK – an umbrella organisation with 30 years’ experience in the field.

As Director you will be a strong communicator, influencer, manager and leader. You will have proven management experience, and an ability to fundraise and coordinate work across a wide geographical area.

The salary for the full-time Director position will be up to £32,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The post-holder will fundraise for their own salary alongside the unrestricted seed-fund provided by Changing Tunes UK, to ensure sustainability. There will be 25 days’ holiday plus normal bank holidays.

Musical experience or aptitude is not required, but our values are vital to our success, as we enable hope, aspiration, joy and relationships to flourish amongst those facing multiple and complex disadvantage. The effectiveness of our approach is evidenced in our re-offending rates; 15% below the national average.

Changing Tunes is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to necessary pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS, identity and right to work. All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references.
