We are recruiting:
2x Musicians in Residence
Stafford, Hewell, Brinsford & Featherstone prisons
2 days per week (per Musician); up to £23,000 (pro rata)
Changing Tunes, a Christian-based charity, is recruiting two Musicians in Residence. Each Musician will be hired to work 2 days per week in two of the following prisons: Stafford, Hewell, Brinsford, and Featherstone. By completing an application you consent to be considered for work in any of the four prisons listed.
The role will be to lead two music sessions per week in each of the two prisons (so, four sessions per week total), teaching & rehearsing groups of prisoners. It will also involve post-release work consisting of one-to-one mentoring, performances and group sessions conducted in the community.
You will need to be a skilled and confident musician on at least two instruments, and be able to teach (to basic level) the guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and singing. Most of the work involves guitar tuition and band rehearsal, but other styles and instruments are also valuable. Above all, applicants must be confident, flexible and comfortable with many musical styles.
The work also involves organising occasional concerts in prison, concerts for ex-prisoners in local churches, and performing with prisoners at prison chaplaincy services. No experience working in the prison system required – full training will be given. The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and/or a CTC check.
