To date we have produced five albums of recordings by prisoners and ex-prisoners.

Over the years the prisoners we have worked with have won a number of national Koestler awards. These awards are given to prisoners for outstanding achievement across a broad range of artistic activities (see www.koestlertrust.org.uk for more information). To celebrate the achievements of these prisoners we have released this album featuring an exclusive collection of the award-winning tracks (we can't feature them all as we have won 26 in the last two years alone). The music covers a huge range of styles and is an example of the latent creativity possessed by so many prisoners.

The album contains a mixture of cover versions and original material, from live performances at prison concerts and recording sessions.

The Koestler awards are a huge boost for prisoners' self worth and give them an annual focus on achieving something of real merit. We are also delighted to have a musical image provided by a prisoner for the cover. Entitled Riffs, Rapps and Hooks, it was painted by A McCartney at HMP Wolds.
