  • Almost 50% of adults and 75% of young people are re-convicted within one year of release. For those serving a sentence of less than 12 months, this rises to 61%.
     
  • Research has found that prisoners who do not take part in education are three times more likely to re-offend.
     
  • It costs an average of £45,000 to keep a person in prison for one year.
